Contamination of the Black Sea Coast by remains will be significantly reduced
Ilia Darchiashvili, First Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and Juansher Burchuladze, Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund have conducted the site visit for installation works of trash racks in Natanebi riverbed, Shekvetili.
Above referenced works are being executed within the program of preparatory measures for tourism season and arrangements to be conducted against contamination of the Black Sea coast.
The pilot project is being implemented on the basis of the survey conducted by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia and as per its recommendations, as it has considerable significance for improvement of ecological condition of the coastline.
The new structure of the trash rack moves as per increasing/decreasing of the river level and provides holding of wastes, including oil products - floating on the surface of the river. The equipment is to be installed on both banks of the river in order the wastes to be collected at one point out of which they will be taken out and removed to the landfill.
The works of GEL 124 230 cost were financed out of the state budget and are to be completed by the end of July.
