The project envisages total rehabilitation of the Palace by authenticity keeping as much as possible. Aimed at plastering the walls there will be applied lime, instead of plasterboard as it has been attested that in the process of the palace construction originally there was applied specifically lime for plastering of walls. To date the works are being conducted in several directions: restoration of Southern balcony, rehabilitation of arched roof, plastering works, flooring arranging with brick and installation of stained glass windows.
As per design the exhibition space has been added to the Palace – Museum, nearby site will be arranged as well.
The rehabilitation project has been prepared by the Fund in coordination with the Cultural Heritage Agency.
Rehabilitation of the Palace is to be finalized by the end of the current year, whereas completion of works for the Museum building is to take place in spring 2017.
Restoration of Batoni Palace was conducted for the last time in the 80-ies of the past century, however there was not used the material to be expedient for restoration of historical monuments and international standards stipulated for restoration were not kept as well. With the effort of MDF available design was changed and all relevant standards have been kept aimed at keeping the visual appearance of the monument.
