Nikea Str. Rehabilitation completes earlier than the scheduled date
Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Nodar Javakhishvili together with the First Deputy Minister Ilia Darchiashvili and Juansher Burchuladze, Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund, opened the rehabilitated road at Nikea Street in Kutaisi, representing the biggest street of the City. Prior to rehabilitation the road pavement of the referenced street was damaged and depreciated, conditioning traffic impeding and permanent jamming. Requirements of Safety Standards were not met as well.
The three-lane road of 2.2 km length was totally rehabilitated within the project. There was applied the two-layer asphalt-concrete pavement on the road, restricting separation line was installed between the roadways and new sidewalks were arranged on both sides of the street, street lighting was also replaced and arrangement of new drainage system was provided.
The street resumption will improve the flows of vehicle means within the City significantly and condition relieving of traffic jams being in Kutaisi.
The project cost with the World Bank financing amounts to GEL 7 698 556, 21. It needs to be noted that completion of rehabilitation works was scheduled to take place in May 2017, however operational efficiency of the Municipal Development Fund and Contractor Company enabled the road opening to take place much earlier than the the scheduled date.
