In Tbilisi new metro station construction is finalized
Construction of 23rd metro station was intensively carried out in Tbilisi, as a result rehabilitation of tunnels being conserved for 20 years has been finalized. Now works for facing entrances on Sando Euli and Vaja pshavela streets are in progress. Simultaneously MDF is setting up and testing all installed systems.
As a result of conserved tunnels entire rehabilitation new station meeting international standards, equipped with latest technology has been constructed. Works are carried out by international tender winner Spanish company „COBRA ASSIGNIA“. Design of metro station also belongs to Spanish company.
Metro station “ University” will unload overground traffic flow and will reduce traffic jams on Saburtalo district, where approximately 220 000 consumers are using municipal transport. Putting Metro station “ University into operation will give safe and fast transporting possibility to population.
Construction of new metro station in capital city shall promote urban transport development.
Within the framework of the project existing tunnels with length of 2,6 km have been restored. Construction of undergroung structures are finalized and overground structures are almost finalized – 4 exits. Rail tracks, electrical substation, are arranged, excavators are installed as well as fire alarm systems and emergency exits.
250 workmen are hired on works. Works shall be finalized in July of current year by MDF and project site shall be handed over to transport company.
