Vani to have the renovated Archeological Museum
Vani Archeological Museum undergoes construction and vicinity site is also under rehabilitation by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia (MDF) with the World Bank (WB) financing. Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia (MRDI) Gagi Buadze visited the site aimed at inspecting progress of construction works.
Construction of the new fore-storey building (of the Museum) is being executed within the project, there are to be arranged also the parking lot, small library, laboratory, cafeteria and offices for the administration. Vani archeological museum had not been rehabilitated since 1985. Upon project finalization, it will equal to international standards and will be the most distinguished Museum throughout the region. The Museum will be wholly adapted for the people with disabilities.
In parallel with the Museum construction there are carried out the roofing works for the fragments (gate, temple of mosaic type, round temple, upper terrace of the chapel, upper terrace of the burial ground of the child), found out as a result of archeological excavations. The bridge for the pedestrians to connect the Museum building with the archeological zone, was also renewed under the project.
Rehabilitation-reconstruction works will facilitate to preservation of Vani archeological space, development of tourist infrastructure and employment of local residents. The total cost of the project amounts to GEL 14,5 million.
The MRDI has finalized over 150 projects of various profiles throughout Imereti Region this year.
