Construction of Ozurgeti Folklore Center to be finalized in October
The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia (MRDI) is to complete rehabilitation of Administrative Building for Ozurgeti Representation of Folklore State Center. Ms. Maia Tskitishvili and Executive Director of MDF Gagi Buadze conducted the visit to inspect the progress of works on site. The construction works were commenced in October 2016. The building was in an emergency condition. The indoor interior was completely rehabilitated within the project and façade undergoes lining at present stage. The building will be adapted for the people with disabilities.
Upon completion of works there will be placed the archive and voice recording studio at Ozurgeti Folklore House. The unique material collected by Anzor Erkomaishvili will be compiled here. The ensembles from west Georgia will not have to leave for Tbilisi for songs recording purposes any more. There study up to 100 students at the Center already and its director hopes that this number will be doubled at least.
“Guria is distinguished by its magnificent choirmasters and fortunately this is the tradition that keeps on proceeding nowadays too. Reconstruction of Ozurgeti Folklore Center was carried out in compliance with modern technologies and standards. I do believe that this center will become the new center of culture for the representatives of this field and the local youth” – Maia Tskitishvili stated.
The project which is in support of development of folk tourism, undergo implementation by financing of the Government of Georgia (GoG) and its cost exceeds GEL 1,6 million. Construction of Ozurgeti Folklore Center is to be finalized in May.
