Khertvisi Fortress will meet Tourists with Renovated Infrastructure
The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has completed major part of tourist infrastructure arrangement works next to Khertvisi Fortress.
The World Bank funded project at the cost of GEL 1,7 million implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia was launched last year. The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, and the Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia together with local authorities were visiting the completed project site.
Administrative building and visitors’ center were completely rehabilitated, the fortress access road was paved with cobblestone, access gates were rehabilitated, water supply system, parking lot, waiting room and toilets were also arranged under the project. The existing infrastructure is fully adapted to the needs of disabled.
,,The fortress area was practically inaccessible. In addition to the fact that the site became attractive for tourists, the improved infrastructure will foster generation of revenues in the region”. – has stated Maya Tskitishvili.
Maya Tskitishvili and Levan Davitashvili visited touristic locations of Kvemo Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti. Their trip was aimed at using to the full the regional opportunities, arrangement of modern tourist infrastructure next to touristic centers, revival of historic sites and introduction of innovations to the protected areas in order to increase number of visitors.
