Ozurgeti Folklore Center Opened

The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has completed rehabilitation works for State Folklore Center. The project is funded by the Government of Georgia and its cost exceeds GEL 1.6 million.
Folklore Center inauguration event was attended by Mikheil Batiashvili – Minister of Culture and Sport of Georgia, Juansher Burchuladze -Deputy Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia and local authorities. The existing building was in emergency state. Under the project, interior and exterior of the building were completely refurbished. The building is adapted to the needs of disabled.
Upon completion of works, Ozurgeti Folklore Center will accommodate archive and sound recording studios. It will host unique materials collected by Anzor Erkomaishvili. West Georgian bands will no longer have to visit Tbilisi for recording their songs.
Construction works were launched in October, 2016 and were completed in September of current year. The project will promote development of folk-tourism in the Region.
