The Prime Minister Inspected the Buildings under Construction for IDPs in Zugdidi
8 new buildings are under construction for 256 IDP familis in Zugdidi. Today construction works were inspected by the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure David Narmania and the Director of Municipal Development Fund Elguja Khokrishvili.
The construction works are carried out by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia under the funding of German Reconstruction and Development Credit Bank (KFW). After completion of construction of building for IDPs in Zugdidi, between Tabukashvili and Lermontov Streets, living conditions will improve for hundreds of internally displaced families.
In the framework of the mentioned project, four- and five-storied residential complex will be built for IDPs. On the whole. Construction of 256 apartments is planned according to the project, including 24 1-room apartments with average area of 35 sq.m, 112 2-room apartments with area of 40-51 sq.m and 120 3=room apartments with area of 65 sq.m. The project also provides for improvement of the territory and construction of engineering communications (water supply, sewage, ventilation, power supply, gas supply). Arrangement of green garden, play- and sports- ground is also planned in the residential district. Lighting system will be installed on the whole territory, the territory will be greened, and the sports ground will be covered with artificial cover. All apartments will have open parking area, asphalt- concrete cover will be arranged on the parking lots of the main roads.
In parallel with construction of the buildings, boreholes are drilled on the site for provision with drinking water. As a result of these activities, the population of the 8 buildings will have 24-hour water supply and will not depend on the city network. Upon completion of construction, “Karma” type heaters, gas stoves and dish washers will be installed in apartments in the framework of the project.
Construction of the buildings started in 2013. Total cost of works makes 339 thousand GEL. The works are carried out by Georgian company “Dagi” Ltd. Currently 150 persons are employed, including 120 locals and 30 IDPs. On the next stage of the works additional 50 IDPs will be employed. Construction will be completed in October 2014.
