Prime Minister has familiarized with Saltvisi-Tiriponi rehabilitation works
Prime Minister Mr. IrakliGaribashvili with Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. ElgujaKhokrishvili andGeneral Director of Municipal Development Fund of Georgia Mr. George Somkhishvili along with Governor of Kartli Mr.ZurabRusishvilihave visited Saltvisi-Tiriponi irrigation system rehabilitation works. Project is envisaged to be finalized till July 2014 that will improveirrigation system of 30 villages affected by war on 20 hectare. Municipal Development Fund of Georgia implementsSaltvisi- Tiriponi’s irrigation system rehabilitation works by USAID funding. Cost of the project exceeds 14 million GEL and more than hundred locals are employed.
Main networks of Saltvisi-Tiriponi irrigation system lay along to so called border line of the occupied territory. As Mr. IrakliGaribashvilistated one of the important priorities of Georgian government is to take care of population effected by war. By estimation of Prime Minister infrastructural projects are huge support to so called border village population, who despite of many complications still maintain their economy. As Prime Minister stated strengthening country’s economy will led to conflict resolution and government of Georgia is gradually following these steps.
Rehabilitation of Tiriponi irrigation system determines8500 hectare of 14 villages irrigation system. These villages are: Ergneti, Megvrekisi,Brotsleti,Tirdznisi,Tergvisi, Karbi, Kere,Tkviavi,Plavi,Plavismani,Kveshi,Kitsmisi, Marana,Karaleti.
Rehabilitation of Saltvisi irrigation system determines 9700 hectare of 16 villages irrigation system. These villages are: ZemoNikozi, KvemoNikozi, ZemoKhviti, KvemoKhviti, Pkhvenisi,Kelktseula, Shindisi, Akhaldaba, Variani, Variani economy, Sakasheti,Dzlevijvari,Arashenda,Dirbi, Dvani,Takhtisdziri.
Project in conflict zone is implemented by Ltd “Mshenebeli 80”. Till 2008 big part of Gori municipality villages were utilizing Tiriponi irrigation system, but since August war network has been blocked by de facto government and became impossible to yield. After completion of works irrigation water supply will be provided completely.
