August 15, 2025
The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure has announced a tender for design and construction of a new UEFA Category IV stadium in Tbilisi.
The stadium, designed for 70,000 fans, will be a modern multifunctional arena, where football and rugby matches, concerts and other local and international events will be held. The stadium will be capable to host the Champions League and other top-level matches.
A community center is also planned to operate in the stadium territory. It is planned to arrange conference, exhibition, recreation areas, a museum and a shopping area.
The new stadium will be constructed near the airport, adjacent to the Lugar Research Center. It is planned to design and build new transport hubs to quickly reach the stadium from different parts of the city, which will ensure comfortable conveyance of passengers.
The concept of the new multifunctional stadium is being developed together with UEFA experts. International specialists are actively involved in all project stages— including preparation of the stadium’s tender specifications. Experts will be engaged in the project starting from the development of the stadium’s concept up to its final completion.
The stadium’s infrastructure will be fully adapted for people with special needs.
The stadium will create new jobs during construction as well as operation.
Construction of the new stadium will strengthen the local economy and boost tourism, hotels, catering facilities and the service sector.
As a result of the operation of the new stadium, one of the most important platforms both for sports and cultural events will evolve in the country.
