A new multifunctional park to be arranged in Kutaisi

The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Ministry of Infrastructure is to commence the designing of a new, multifunctional park of modern standards in Kutaisi City. 

 

The park is to be arranged in the vicinity of the former parliament building and aims at creating the recreational space to be ecologically sustainable, multifunctional and oriented on public interests.

 

The new park will encourage popularization of a healthy lifestyle, increase the tourist potential and development of local economy.

 

“On the territory of a former auto plant, we are to arrange the central park, which is to cover up to 80 ha. We have already announced the bidding for the design, and the bidding winner architectural bureau will carry out the detailed design. It is to be arranged as a big recreation zone, and there will be arranged the Kutaisi Sports Hall too on this site. We do consider planning and arranging of large sports grounds of various types along with the associated infrastructure that is required for such park of big size” – Executive Director of MDF Beka Urushadze declared.

 

As per design, there will be arranged the playing zones, sports grounds and training spaces, network of pedestrian paths and bike lanes, cultural and educational spaces, open stage, pavilions and the grounds for hosting events. There will be arranged also the information center, pergolas, chess tables, drinking water fountains, decorative lakes, and fountains. The site is scheduled to be landscaped with the plants of local species.

 

The park will include the parking lots, charging stations for electric vehicles, outdoor lighting, irrigation system, as well as security and video surveillance infrastructure.

 

The new space will be fully accessible to all users, including those with special needs.
