Bidding announced for construction of the 2nd Section of Tbilisi-Rustavi Highway

The Municipal Development Fund (MDF) of the Minsitry of Infrastructure has announced a bidding for construction of the Tbilisi-Rustavi 2nd section of Tbilisi-Red Bridge (border with Azerbaijan) Highway of international significance.
 
The project provides for construction of a 3.6-km road in Ponichala section and two new bridges (211 and 170 meters long) over Mtkvari River. The embankment will also feature the recreation areas and safe pedestrian zones to be equipped with traffic lights.
 
In addition to that, a two-level transport hub will be built there, which will fully meet the requirements of both local and international transit traffic, and a single-level hub for regulating the local traffic will be arranged on the territory of Ponichala.
 

The construction of the new section will significantly decrease the intensity of freight and transit traffic on city streets, reduce travel time, and improve safety. In the course of the road construction, all relevant construction, environmental, and social standards will be taken into consideration.
