New tender to be announced for Velistsikhe rehabilitation

Beka Urushadze, Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund, arrived in the village of Velistsikhe and got acquainted with the current situation on site. Together with Givi Metreveli, Deputy State Governor of Kakheti, and Giorgi Machavariani, Mayor of Gurjaani Municipality, he discussed the procedures and next steps necessary for the timely and quality continuation of the project.

A few days ago, the Fund decided to terminate the contract with the contractor companies of the rehabilitation project of the central part of the village Velistsikhe - the joint venture of "Insi" LLC and "Java" LLC. The reason for the decision was the failure of the companies to fulfill their obligations, despite numerous warnings.

The project, which is being implemented with the financial support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), began in the first quarter of 2022, and the contract termination process will be conducted in full compliance with the rules and regulations of the donor organization.

At the same time, the international supervision company EPTISA will begin a detailed description and inventory of the works performed on site. This procedure is necessary to accurately determine the scope of the works performed and to compile a list of the remaining works, which is a crucial stage in preparing a new tender.

The Fund emphasizes that each stage of the process — termination of the contract and preparation of a new tender — is being carried out in close coordination with and direct involvement of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
