Large-scale urban and recreational infrastructure projects to begin in Rustavi.

March 13, 2026

The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Georgia has announced a tender and a competition for development of extensive urban and tourist infrastructure in the city of Rustavi.

The announced tender provides for restoration of buildings of historical and cultural significance, arrangement of public tourist and recreational facilities, renovation of streets and roads, and rehabilitation of engineering networks.

The Municipal Development Fund has also announced a competition for renovation of Rustavi Central Park — the monument of garden-park art and landscape architecture. The project aims to transform the park into a fully equipped, modern recreational space intended for leisure and active pastimes for all age groups.

Under the project, the park will be equipped with children’s play areas and sports zones — including an outdoor basketball court and exercise areas. The existing mini-football pitch, beach volleyball court, and skate park will be renovated. Special attention will be given to recreational areas — seating and relaxation zones and landscaped pathways will be arranged, and the amphitheater and pavillon will be rehabilitated.

It is also planned to develop a network of cycling, running, and pedestrian paths, to provide for additional transport links, and expand the existing lake. Upon completion of the project, Rustavi will be able to host canoeing tournaments. A small boat harbour will be constructed adjacent to the canoeing school, and the lake’s shoreline will be equipped with appropriate infrastructure, including outdoor showers and restrooms.

The rehabilitation of Rustavi Central Park will significantly improve the city’s urban environment and create a modern, multifunctional recreational space where sport, culture, and nature converge.
